27th Annual FMX Birthday Bash Branded a Blast

Local radio station KFMX-FM in Lubbock assembled an amalgam of modern rock and roll to celebrate its anniversary this year.

I'm not exactly sure precisely when the actual birthday is, because the Birthday Bash is held at a different time every year. 

 

Centennial celebration kicks off with concert

Thousands of residents from around the region filled the City Bank Coliseum for the Lubbock Centennial Celebration, hosted by country music singer Mac Davis.

The event was held on March 2 to serve as the opening ceremony for the yearlong celebration being held to commemorate Lubbock’s 100th birthday.

 

'Penelope' puts twist on classic fairytale

“Penelope” has the classic script featuring the princess waiting for her prince charming to save her, but with a modern twist.

 

Penelope Willhern (Christina Ricci) is a seemingly normal blue-blood child with all the privileges and more. Her parents (Catherine O’Hara and Robert E. Grant) want the best life for their daughter, but that is made impossible because of the Willhern curse. 

 

 

Good music comes natural for Strait in Hub City concert

For more than 25 years, country songwriter George Strait has been selling out  venues from coast to coast. 

On March 7, Lubbock welcomed muti-platinum MCA recording artist George Strait to the United Spirit Arena. The concert was sold out, with more than 15,000 people in attendance.

 

Irish concert set for April 10

County Hockley will be filling the Tom T. Hall Recording and Production Studio in the Creative Arts Building with Irish music during a special concert.

 

The Irish music group will be performing on April 10 at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.

 

 

'Moldy Peaches' turn nursery rhymes into rock hits

The newly famous Indie duo from New York City plays childish, potty-mouthed, ndie rock music.

With the sound of a childhood nursery rhyme, and ­ragged, distasteful lyrics, Kimya Dawson and Adam Green put on a show with the clever nickname and title, “The Moldy Peaches.

 

'Little Voice' creates big sound

Sara Bareilles’ album “Little Voice” is fun and very inventive.

The songs on this album are creative, and they even take you to another world. There are a total of 12 songs on this album.

Most of the songs on this album are quite artistic. Some of them seem to have a kind of a pop feel to them.
