'Little Voice' creates big sound

by Kendra Halsell, staff writer

Sara Bareilles’ album “Little Voice” is fun and very inventive.

The songs on this album are creative, and they even take you to another world. There are a total of 12 songs on this album.

Most of the songs on this album are quite artistic. Some of them seem to have a kind of a pop feel to them.

The first song is “Love Song,” a smash hit often played on the radio. In this song, Bareilles plays the piano, sings lead vocals, and also supplies the background vocals. In “Vegas” (track two), “Come Round Soon” (track five), “Between the Lines” (track seven), “City” (track nine), “Fairytale” (track 11), and “Gravity” (track 12), Bareilles plays the piano and handles the lead vocals.

On “Bottle It Up” (track three), “Love on the Rocks” (track eight), and “Many the Miles” (track 10) she just sticks with lead vocals. On “One Sweet Love” (track four), Bareilles preforms the lead vocals, in addition to playing the piano and acoustic guitar, While she plays the piano, sings lead vocals, and plays the Fender Rhodes on track six, “Morningside.”

Personally, I love the entire album. I think that every track on the album is inventive and makes you feel how she feels when she is singing that song. She does a good job of making you feel the music. Every time I listen to the album, I feel that I am in an entirely different world, if only for a moment.

My favorite song on the album would have to be either “Fairytale” or “Love on the Rocks,” because they are fun and crazy. I kind of like “Fairytale” more just because it is kind of funny. I have also come to love the song “Vegas,” because it makes me want to just pick up, quit my job, and leave town, even if I can’t really do that. But hey, a girl can dream can’t she.

I recommend this album mainly to women and young girls, because I think that most guys wouldn’t like it. But hey, who am I to say what guys like and don’t like.

I give this album five stars. If you buy this album, you will absolutely love it.
