Chamber concert

Set for April 18

Get ready to enjoy an evening of entertainment, as the South Plains College Fine Arts Department presents a Chamber recital, featuring low brass and percussion trios, clarinet and low brass ensembles.

There is no admission for the event, which begins at 7:30 p.m. on April 18 in the SPC Theater for the Performing Arts.

There will be a low brass trio composed of Brian Hecimovich, John Paul Landin and Dr. Bruce Keeling, professor of music, who will be performing “Sonata,” by Daniel Speer. Then, an euphonium quartet featuring Jennifer and Michelle Perez, Faulkner and Ruth Cunningham will perform “1st Suite,” by E. Olander and “Gavotte and Hornpipe,” by Henry Purcell.

Following the low brass trio, the low brass ensemble, featuring the euphonium quartet along with Hecimovich and Gilbert Barcia on tuba, Landin and Erica Weemes on trombone, and Dr. Jackie Wright on euphonium, will perform: “Pavane,” by Susato, “Fanfare,” by Daniel Speer and “To Yonder Lovely Grove,” by Clement Janequin.

Also a clarinet ensemble, featuring Matt Tolentino, Heather Nichols, Maria Romero and Ashley McNelly, will perform “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik,” by Mozart, and selections from “Album for the Young,” by Tchaikovsky.

The final performance will be by the snare drum trio, featuring Cody Hester, Landin and Hecimovich. They will perform “Three to Go,” by Joe Maroni, “Latino," by David Eyler and “Music for Pieces of Wood,” by Steve Reich.
