Faith, friendship found in Christ

by Isa Torres, staff writer

A true friend can be better than a brother.

I have worked with different people from very different places. I have friends from Minnesota, Michigan, Alabama and many other states. It is really hard to keep long distance friendships, especially when your life is going completely different from that of your friend who is living in a different state, with a different lifestyle, and weather so different that you could never stand it, just because you are not used to it.
I’ve met very cool people who believe and love the same God I worship. I’ve dated girls who are so different from me, but at the same time they follow my God as well.

A true friend doesn’t let distance get in the way of a friendship. A true friend will always be there, even if he or she is 100 miles away from you. Two years ago, I met this girl named Katie Meredith. We worked together on a mission trip. I was a translator, and she was just part of a high school team. A true friend will always have an amazing impact on your life. I have to say she changed mine.

It has been really hard to keep the relationship going, but I have never met a girl with such a great commitment to God. She encourages me to keep going every day, and when my faith is stumbling, I just look at her and it is like I have new wings.

It is hard to have awesome friends, but one has to know what to do when you have them. My love for my best friend doesn’t compare to the love that He has for me. The Christ, my Jesus, has infinite love for me. His sacrifice for me is just an example of the never-ending love that only He has for me.

It is amazing how sometimes people can’t see what I see. They don’t see the God that I have. It seems that they can’t distinguish the person who loves them so much, who created an opportunity for them to live in heaven with Him.

Just look around you. No way you could have made it through to this point without seeing a spark of His love.
