Bridges receives teaching honor

The Texas Business and Technology Educators Association recently named
Dianne Bridges, a professor of office technology at South Plains College, as
Region 17 Post-Secondary Teacher of the Year.
“It is an honor to be recognized by your peers,”
Bridges said.
In 1995, she also received this award. The nominees must be primarily
engaged in teaching business at the post-secondary level.
The award is earned through contributions to the
organization and to the college. Bridges has served as president,
president-elect and secretary of TBTEA, and she received a pin for 35 years
or continuous membership in the organization.
“Dianne received this award for her many
dedicated years of service to business education. She is a very loyal member
of TBTEA,” said Janet Flusche, business/technology teacher of Frenship High
School and TBTEA Region 17 representative.
Bridges will be eligible to compete for the
state award presented this summer at TBTEA’s professional development
conference. Those recipients of the state award will advance to national
competition sponsored by the Mountain Plains Business Education Association.
Bridges has been a veteran of SPC for 34 years
and professor of office technology. She has served as chairperson of the
Business Administration Department, served on the curriculum committee, has
chaired a Southern Association Reaccredidation subcommittee and has been
developing online courses.
Bridges taught an online accounting course last
spring, and she is currently teaching online keyboard and document
formatting classes this fall. Her plans are to continue teaching an online
introduction to accounting next spring.
“I enjoy teaching the online courses,” Bridges
said. “It’s teaching one-on-one.”
