SPC rodeo team finishes fall with three champions

The
South Plains College rodeo teams recently finished the fall season on a
strong note, capturing two first place finish.
The
Texan rodeo team placed third at the Texas Tech Rodeo in Lubbock, “ It’s the
best performance we’ve had since we began,” Said Josh Crow who is In his
fourth season as head coach, “To win two events is a big deal. We just keep
getting better and better.”
In
the team roping competition, James Lockhart and Dustin Pool won the event
with an overall time of 11.4 seconds. Fellow Texan Zane Hankle took home the
crown in the steer wrestling competition with a total time of 8.7 seconds,
and freshman Tony Byers advanced to the finals of the event.
In
the calf-roping event, freshman Jake Mitchell tied for third with a time of
18.2 seconds and Kelsey Garrison also advanced to the finals.
“ The
kids are good in the classroom as well as the arena,” Crow said “They know
school comes first.” He added, “ I’m just extremely proud of them all.”
