The date is Nov.19. 2004. The place, the Palace of Auburn Hills, the home court of the Detroit Pistons.

With the Pacers already leading 97-82 and the game already well in hand for the Pacers, it begins. Indiana Pacer and often-troubled player Ron Artest fouls Wallace hard, and that’s how one of the worst fan-player confrontations begins. After Wallace retaliates and Pistons coaches holding him back, Artest goes and lies on the scorer’s table, before getting a drink tossed on him. Artest then ran into the stands, where the haymakers began to get thrown.
