Offers New Certificate

The
Creative Arts Department at South Plains College recently announced the
addition of two new certificate program that will be offered for the Fall
2006 semester.
The
first is a new area of study in entertainment business. The new business
entertainment certificate is a level one certificate that consists of 36
credit hours and a chance of one year completion.
The
new area of study will offer students a variety of training, with courses in
music publishing, production, distribution, performance and promotion for
independent artists, music contract law, retail and wholesale of musical
instruments, live talent, band management, venue/event management, pedagogy
and private music instruction.
Another new addition to the Creative Arts Department is a Sound
Reinforcement
Certificate. The Sound Reinforcement Certificate is part of the live sound
program that is a level one certificate that consisting of 28 credit hours
with a chance of a one-year completion. The certificate curriculum consists
of Live Sound I, II, and III. Also included are sound systems tech, audio
electronics, sound system design and installation and sound system
optimization. The main focus of this program will focus on the basic
principles of live sound, engineering monitors, microphone choice and
placement, feedback control, front-of-house mix, utilization of effects and
dynamic processing.
The
two new programs will offer more for students who are interested in an
in-depth look into the music industry. For more information about the new
