End of
An Era...
Bidding Adieu to My Fellow
Peers
Giovanni Rosendo, associate
editor
The
past two years of attending South Plains College have definitely
been an experience that I will not forget.
I have
a sense of accomplishment knowing that I got here, I’m finishing and I’m
ready to transfer to a university.
Here
goes the laundry list of “Thank You,”:
My
advisor, Charlie Ehrenfeld, you have taken me under your wing and shown me
the ways of the newsroom. I don’t know what I would’ve done if you didn’t
steer me further into the journalism direction. I’ve absorbed a plethora of
ideas and skills by being your darkroom assistant and as the associate
editor. I will definitely miss our renditions of Queen and always remember
“Apple + Z.”
To
Ray, I wouldn’t be in the position I am in if it weren’t for you,
literally. Of course I mean this in the best way possible. You took me
under your wing and became a close friend. Close enough to where we think
and say the same thing in unison, too close maybe. Just kidding. Thank you
for being so involved, not only on staff, but also personally. Of course, I
don’t have to go on about how great we are. I’ll let the awards speak for
themselves. And yes, we’ll still have our talent show…someday.
Jacob
and Margot, you kids are crazy. I don’t think I’ll ever have the same
conversations about Star Wars, Harry Potter or Halo again. You make nerds
look, well, nerdy, but proud. I wish you happiness in your relationships,
because we all know how those go. I know that you both are very forthcoming
and will go very far in whatever you want to do. And don’t forget that Obi
Wan is always right.
Michelle, Monica, and Heather, your skills as photographers are exquisite.
You guys are always up for a challenge and are constantly on your feet. I
hope that you hold on to your enthusiasm, because it’ll definitely be
needed. Accept criticism and praises. Don’t be afraid to try new
techniques, but never forget about time in the darkroom. And Nikki, our
unofficial mascot, gets big ups too. You ladies are awesome.
Jennifer, you are seriously out there. You are by far the ditsiest person I
have ever met, and you love it. You’ve definitely opened up more since the
first paper night. We can all attest to that. Thank you for piercing my
ears. You did a fabulous job. Good luck with your endeavors. Remember
that I’ll be watching you.
Chris,
what is there to say that hasn’t already been said? Indeed, you are my
knight in shining armor.
Kevin,
this year with you has without a doubt had its ups and downs, but I suppose
that goes along with the job. Your zeal with journalism is overwhelming,
and whether you follow through with print or broadcast, you will definitely
get the job done.
Anjuli,
though you haven’t been on staff as long as the others, you definitely lived
up to our expectations. You have a face that can be the most humble, even
when you’re in a heated argument. Don’t worry though, Jenna Jameson has
nothing on you ma’am.
As for
the rest of the staff, thank you very much for helping this year. Without
your commitment and hard work, we wouldn’t be able to produce an
award-winning paper. I know it will be hard when I am gone, but please keep
writing. Life will prevail.
As for
our readers, thank you for your dedication and loyalty to our publication.
It was always a pleasure to walk down the hallways and see people trying to
walk and read at the same time. Thanks to those who wrote letters to the
editor, not just to me, but to all of the editors. Remember that you are
attending SPC now, whether you got help or did it all on your own, this is
one of the most important decisions that you can make.
Only
you can fail; no one else can do it for you. Take the time and keep
yourself out of trouble. Also, remember that if you need something to
preoccupy yourself, there’s always writing or taking photos.
