Road to NBA Finials brings excitement for fans

For many basketball fans, this is the year to watch the Western Conference in the NBA. 

While activities in the Eastern Conference are slow and the Boston Celtics are clearly the front runners to play in the finals, the team to represent the West is not so clear.  There are many contenders in the West who have all of the right ingredients to make it to the finals. 

 

Track team continues to run past competition

Mock drafts no indication of reality

When looking at the NFL draft, I have realized that anything can happen.

You can’t rely on ESPN or other organizations to have in-depth coverage prior to the draft, especially not when it comes to making a mock draft.

There are so many things that have to be taken into consideration when making a mock draft. For most of us, we don’t get the insider information that the professional media gets.

Vierstra, Shanklin among top SPC performers at Howard, Frank Philips

 The South Plains College rodeo teams continued their success from earlier in the season at the Howard College rodeo in Big Spring. 

Six SPC rodeo team members advanced to the final round during the event, which was held April 17- April 19.  

Green named NJCAA Coach of the Year

South Plains College’s Steve Green recently was named NJCAA Men’s Basketball Coaches Association Division I Coach of the Year.

In the 2007-2008 season, Green led the Texans to a 30-5 overall record and a 67-65 National Championship victory against Salt Lake Community College after placing fourth in the regular-season standings of the Western Junior College Athletic Conference.

Badaru, Shepard ink scholarship pacts

Two South Plains College women’s track and field athletes recently signed letters of intent to compete at four-year universities.

Lillian Badaru, a sophomore from Uganda, will run track at Ohio State University.

Lakers star slowly bringing team back to success

Many sports fans, myself included, have been waiting for this for a few years now, while others are dreading the reality that is unfolding right before their very eyes. 

It appears that Kobe Bryant has once again reasserted his reign at the top of the National Basketball Association.
