Ready set run... SPC cross country teams begin season

between the University of Tennessee and Rutgers University,
a popular, nationally-syndicated radio talk show host
decided to comment on more than just the Rutgers’s team’s
performance, but on the appearance of players as well.
Wiley tabbed as new assistant track coach

new faces on campus. One of these new faces isn’t one of
the students but a new addition to the coaching staff.
SPC athlete bitten by snake

A member of the South Plains College track and field team
was bitten by a snake recently.
Christopher Johnson, a native of
Okinawa, Japan, was bitten on the leg on Sept. 5 as he was
walking off of the grass infield and onto the track.
Tubb named 'AD of the Year'

The National Association of Collegiate Director of Athletics
recently awarded SPC’s Joe Tubb the General Sports TURF
system Athletic Director of the Year.
Tubb was honored AD of the Year by the
Junior/Community College West Region. A reception was held
for Tubb on June 28 in the T-Club Lounge at Texan Dome.
Cowboys fans may get a T.O. from losing

It’s the second most wonderful time of the year, the start
of the Dallas Cowboys’ season.
It’s second only to the college bowl
season, not Christmas, for me. This time of year is one of
the few times that Dallas fans can feel good about their
team.
Fantasy football: more than just a game

The NFL season starting up it can only mean one thing: It’s
fantasy football time!
With each season, fantasy football
gets bigger and bigger every year. It’s hard to believe
that an Internet dream team can result in a nationwide
competition to see who can draft the better team. Fantasy
Football has become one of the favorite gambling styles of
many people, with its live drafts and head-to-head
competition, or its simple auto-pick, rotisserie-style
match-ups.
The 411 on the Big 12

The 2006 Big 12 football season looks to be another
challenging campaign for the conference, with teams such as
the defending National Champions Texas Longhorns in the
South and the Colorado Buffaloes in the North.
