Africa's children capture SPC student's heart

Chad Moore made a very important decision to go to Africa
and do mission work this summer.
After being there representing the Baptist Student
Ministries of South Plains College, Moore has returned as a
new person.
Silver Telly awarded to SPCs StoryTellers and MusicMakers

“StoryTellers and MusicMakers” recently received a Silver
Telly Award for its first season.
This 13-part music interview show is
produced and directed at South Plains College. It is aired
on KTXT-TV on Thursdays at 8 p.m.
Hosted by singer Kenny Maines, the
music talk show shines the spotlight on West Texas music.
Tom Stalcup, program coordinator of video production
technology at SPC, is co-producer of the show. Stalcup said
the students are really gung-ho about the project, even
though it is all done on a volunteer basis.
Overcoming cancer: Winning fight for life

Beth Belew and Alma Lopez are winning their battles against
cancer.
Belew has survived breast cancer, and
Lopez has survived lymphoma. Breast cancer kills 41,619
women each year, but this number has decreased since the
1990s.
Breast Cancer is the most common cancer
in women. About 71,380 people in the United States will be
diagnosed with Lymphoma, including 3,720 to 32,710 women.
Felker values time with students

For 20 years, Dr. Michael Felker has been teaching and
inspiring students at South Plains College as a professor of
English.
Out of those 20 years, 17 have been
spent as chairperson of the department. This year, however,
will be his last in that position. Dr. Felker is resigning
as chairperson so that he can spend more time doing what he
came here to do, and that is to teach.
Comeback kid: Clark overcomes circumstances

Clark, they may find that at first glance he blends into the
masses of students enrolled at South Plains College.
