Fall enrollment shows slight increase

Fall enrollment was among the topics of discussion at the
September 13 meeting of the South Plains College Board of
Regents.

Last year, South Plains College started looking for a person
who could fill the void created when Dr. Jay Driver resigned
as dean of arts and sciences to return to the classroom.
Dr. Walsh retiring at end of month

After 15 years of service as the
provost of South Plains College, Dr. Dick Walsh finds his
stellar career coming to an end.
Patton takes over term; Selected as first female regent

Under unfortunate circumstances, Linda Patton recently made
history by becoming the first female member of the South
Plains College Board of Regents.
“We (women) always need other
opportunities,” said Patton. “This will certainly open a
whole lot of doors.”
John hired as new student recruiter

South Plains College is presenting a new face to students
interested in pursuing an education.
Kathryn John is stepping into the roll
of student recruiter in the Office of Enrollment Management.
Before applying for the position, she worked for the South
Plains Community Action Head Start. When looking for
something different that would challenge her, she found that
SPC had an opening for a student recruiter.
Former SPC students turn assignment into reality, raise
money for animal shelter

This Last spring, two South Plains College students found
themselves with a challenging project.
The project was to plan a campaign for a non-profit
organization or business as for Introduction to Public
Relations course. However, the two students went above and
beyond the assignment and made it reality.
Texan Cheerleaders collecting cell phones, printer
cartridges

The South Plains College Lady Texan cheerleaders have
collaborated with the National Junior College Athletic
Association to begin their service project for the fall 2007
semester.
The
cheerleading squad has agreed with the NJCAA and
Donationsink to collect empty ink cartridges and cell phones
to turn into donations for Operation Christmas Child. |
