Bonds' greatness underrated
by Robert Box, sports editor
Public perception can often be misleading in the world of
sports.
If I were to ask you who the sports
figure was that was surrounded with controversy and ended up
breaking one of the most prestigious and notable records in
all of sports without the previous record holder or his
commissioner present to witness the record fall, who would
you say? Well, it may surprise you to know that I just
described Hank Aaron, whose record just fell to Barry Bonds.

little intimidating for someone to step in and become the

Lehmann named new athletic trainer
by Beka Rutledge, editorial assistant
With groups growing in
popularity among teens, it is hard to decipher what is real
and what is being fed as a lie.

Cowboy's hopes ride high
by John Stewart, staff writer
After finishing 9-7 last year and suffering from a
devastating loss against the Seahawks in the Wild card round
of the 2007 playoffs, the cowboys have made some changes.
Notable off-season additions include
Offensive guard Leonard Davis, Free Safety Ken Hamlin and
reserve Quarterback Brad Johnson, all sure to improve the
Cowboys' chances of getting to Arizona, the site of Super
Bowl XLII. Also the acquisition of new Head Coach Wade
Phillips, who was brought in from the Chargers after Bill
Parcells retired, should be a welcomed addition.
Fall brings college football dreams
by Cody Barron, staff writer
College football has always had a strong and
almost-religious following in America.
Not only
is it football, but many love the sport due to the fact that
the players are not being paid, thus pushing them to perform
harder knowing that their chances of moving on to the
National Football League are better if they play harder.
Others feel a strong tie to a certain team because of their
allegiance to the college, such as alumni or friends and
family. Regardless of the reason, America loves its college
football.

The first
overall pick in the NFL draft, a three-time Pro Bowl player
at the hardest position in the sport, the only quarterback
to rush for more than 1,000 yards in a season, a
multi-millionaire and now a convicted felon.
There have
been few that have fallen so far and so fast as Michael Vick
has in the past few months. The only other individual who
comes to my mind is the likes of another Mike, Mike Tyson.

faith, Michael Irvin can be an inspiration and a molding
tool for many of today's athletes. Both who are pro and
aspire to do so.

In the early part of the 20th
