Riding in
Cars with Boys
Jessica Safavimehr, staff writer
Recently, I embarked on an adventurous trip along with four other young
women to the crazy city of Austin.
The
weekend was set to be filled with hot musicians, sight-seeing, and Urban
Outfitters.
As
with anything, something is bound to happen and change everything that was
planned. First , a foreshadowing of an interesting trip, I find out that I
need to be back on Saturday, when everyone else was planning on coming back
Sunday. I was not even going to be able to go on the trip. Well, a few
things got worked out, and I was able to leave as planned.
Next,
my friend and I drove to the exciting city of Odessa to meet the rest of our
traveling companions. I was expecting people somewhat like my friend and I.
I got the exact opposite. Here is a little prerequisite trip knowledge: my
friend and I were going to Austin to see some bands play, bands not of the
pop genre, which these other girls were obviously into.
So, we
meet up with the rest of our group and proceed to Austin. The car ride was
OK, but once we got to Austin we couldn’t really agree on anything.
Three
of us wanted to go to the show, and the other two wanted to go sight-seeing.
So we go our separate ways, and the night went well to some degree. I was
able to see …And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead.
Then
came Saturday. We had planned on leaving that day, but changed our minds, as
those of the female gender tend to do. We stay and have such a hard time
deciding how we are going to spend our Saturday. My friend and I wanted to
do some shopping, some of the other girls wanted to watch a soccer game out
in the Austin heat. We compromise and spend most of our time being drenched
in sweat.
This
trip was certainly another life lesson that had to be learned. I do not
recommend traveling with more than one girl. Its just too much work. Women
seem to never get along when they are in groups. There will always be some
sort of conflict. It’s in the books, or something like that.
I
don’t really know if it is the same way with guys or not. For now, I must
keep my biased opinion, because I only have knowledge of the female gender.
I
personally believe that any trip with more than one female will turn into
some sort of dramatic trouble. Where there are females there is drama.
Drama
is anything that happens to stir up trouble between any two or more people.
I think, in some sort of twisted way, we thrive on it. I hope I am wrong,
but after this trip, it is going to be extremely hard to sway me to the
other side.
The
point of the story is to choose your traveling companions wisely or else you
might end up being left alone on the side of the highway hitching a ride
home.
