Responding to Action
Kevin L. Mayer, staff writer
Society in general pushes each individual to achieve certain goals and
succeed in every action of his or her life. The public persona of acting on
one's morals and values is a genetic human trait and has always been a part
of our evolution. So if acting to achieve is expected, why such negative
response to any action?
We
push each other and ourselves through life, but no matter what may be
accomplished or achieved, some will view those actions as negative or
possibly inferior. Now you may be thinking, not all achievements can be
viewed in a negative light; there must be some actions that have no possible
negative view. Well, you would be wrong. Think about it. Everyone has an
opinion, and not every opinion is the same as the other. We landed on the
moon… or did we? No matter what, some in society are always going to
disagree. But recently, it has been done with such curt intolerance.
Negativity seems to be an emerging influence in our society, and it will be
our generation who inherits the disarray unless it is changed. It is very
easy to disagree with something someone says or has done; it is how you go
about it that will result in a positive or negative outcome.
If
your opinion conflicts with an action, what solutions can you offer? Do you
offer a solution, or just negative banter? Many people in this world seem to
be here just to antagonize someone. What purpose does that serve? Will it
get us anywhere? No, it won't.
We
have built great cities and destroyed great lands. We have taken over the
world but let ourselves be taken over. All we can do is learn from history
and move on. We can only do our best with what we have. I believe it is time
for everyone to be more productive. There are many problems with our
society, and by becoming more productive we can solve some of them.
By
being more productive with your time, your time is consumed. You are more
active, energetic and likely to be healthier. As our society evolves, our
activity has de-evolved. We have become a society of convenience. I believe
if people were a little more positive and productive, more could be
achieved.
Once
someone becomes positive and productive, they tend to have pride in their
work. This is something that has been lacking in our society since the
intolerance began. Products and structures have lost the durability they
once had. Little by little, we are losing pieces of ourselves and those that
came before us.
Have
pride in your work and be productive in life. Others may attempt to
antagonize only because it is easier than achieving goals.
If you
are satisfied with your achievements, then you succeeded. It is not the
response to the action that matters. Actions have their own response, called
results. In the end, it is the result that matters.
