Heder, Thornton combine comedic forces

by Jacob Tucker, associate editor

Jon Heder recently starred in the sleeper hit “Napoleon Dynamite,” which has shoved him into the comedic spotlight.  Billy Bob Thornton has been known to play rough-edged, raunchy characters such as “Bad Santa” and Mr. Buttermaker in the recent remake “Bad News Bears.”

Few have even thought of the question, “What would these two be like together?”  On Sept. 29, those few who asked that question were answered with the release of the romantic comedy, “School for Scoundrels.”

Shelton steams up fairgoers

by Jennifer Conlee, feature editor

Blake Shelton entered the Fair Park Coliseum to thunderous applause and screaming girls at this year’s 96.3 KLLL Free For All Concert.

Nothing less could be expected for a singer whose voice and songs have delighted fans since his debut in 1994.

Underground not your average venue

by Jonathan Seaborn, opinion editor

Day after day, you hear someone complain that, “Lubbock’s scene is dead.”

Pat Green blows up Lubbock festival with 'Cannonball'

by Hilary McNamara, co-entertainment editor

The Lubbock Music Festival brought big names and big crowds this year.  One of the most anticipated concerts featured Pat Green.

For all who have been to at least one of the former Texas Tech University student’s concerts, you know they are far from dull. Green’s performance at the festival proved it was anything but.  It felt like a big reunion, with friends, families; cheer and beer everywhere. Green oozed on the Texas, Lubbock and Tech pride, sang his heart out and helped us remember why we love Texas so much.
