I am writing this article to educate
those of you who read the opinion article by the
editor-in-chief Jonathan Seaborn in the last issue of our
Plainsmen Press. It was very interesting to read his views
on the book, “The Secret,” and its principle of the “Law of
Attraction.” I am not a professional writer, so pardon my
writing style (?).
Seaborn calls the whole thing as “That
is total bologna.” It is so sad to see how he scrapped the
very essence of the secret of success for any man or woman
in this world.
To begin with, what authority does he
have to make such a statement? What is the level of success
in life for Mr. Seaborn to make such a statement? I
understand the article was written as an Opinion column in
the newspaper, and we live in a free country where we are
free to express our views on things. I totally respect that
coming from an average citizen because that is his right.
Unfortunately, for Mr. Seaborn, being
the editor-in-chief, he has a responsibility to watch what
he writes in a paper that many people read. There is a
famous saying that “A pen is mightier than the sword.”
Opinions are dime a dozen in this world. Average people
(90-95 percent of the population) live their life based on
popular opinions, instead of making critical decisions in
their life based on facts. Again, I would not blame them,
as I was one of them about a few years ago and now coming
out of it. I just did not know what I did not know.
Twenty three years of high school and
college education did not teach me these success
principles. So how did I learn these principles? I had to
take a journey chasing the 5 percent of the population who
knew these principles. One avenue is definitely the few
good books out there, but nothing replaces an actual person
who could coach you. I definitely have been blessed to have
been able to associate with some of those in the 5 percent!
I am not giving you my opinion or any
theory, but practical knowledge. It is the same way Rhonda
Byrne is coming to you in that book from her research and
actual practice. By the way, what she talks about in the
book is not any secret at all, at least to the 5 percent. I
have read the same principles in many books and have
actually practiced it to achieve many things at a very young
age. Whatever Mr. Seaborn has talked about that you cannot
achieve using these principles, including overcoming
diseases, I have personal experience on having accomplished
them using these principles.
Mr. Seaborn talks about how people did
not come to power using these principles. Absolutely
wrong… How many autobiographies has he read of major
leaders, CEOs? You will be amazed that practically every
major leader who has come about, from Hitler to Bill Gates,
bad or good, have used this law of attraction, unknowingly
or knowingly, to achieve their goals.
Mr. Seaborn talks about the fact that
everything in life is achieved purely through hard work. I
beg to differ on that… Although hard work is an important
component to success, it by itself has never produced any
great success. I am a classic example of someone who has
really worked hard in life to get where I got to… professor
of chemical engineering at Texas Tech University. It took
me 23 years of my full-time dedication to get that done. And
do you know what? In less than five years, I have
accomplished much more by working hard, along with applying
these principles.
There is too much to say in too little
a time and space, so if readers are interested in knowing,
more we can arrange for a seminar based on response. Please
