SPC cross country teams place second at Tech meet

The South Plains Cross Country teams continued to have
success as a product of hard work, determination and just
plain heart.
At the Texas Tech cross country meet,
known as the Red Raider Jackrabbit Open, both teams competed
well.
The men’s team finished second with 55
points, behind to Texas Tech’s 35 points. Individually John
Kosgei placed second with a time of 23:17.4, Fred Samoei
placed sixth with a time of 24:08.3, Josphat Melly placed 18th
with a time 26:02.5, Javier Perez placed 19th
with a time of 26:06.2, Jorge Castillo placed 25th
with a time of 26:31.9, and Mike Hernandez placed 39th
with a time of 27:24.7
The women’s team also finished second
with 60 points, while Texas Tech posted 29 points. Former
SPC stand out Sally Kipyego finished first for the Lady
Raiders, while Lillian Badaru placed third for the Lady
Texans with a time of 16:22.7.
Florence Jepchirchir placed seventh for
SPC with a time of 17:30.5, Gladys Chumba placed 11th
with a time of 17:51.1, Crystal Dickinson placed 21th with a
time of 18:58, Meagan Willingham placed 25th with
a time of 19:16.6, Jessica Kirchner placed 34th
with a time of 19:58.5, Melinda Burrola placed 38th
with a time of 20:18.8, Megan Erickson placed 43rd
with a time of 20:26.4, and Angelina Williams finished 52nd
with a time of 21:19.8.
