10 things I think I think...
by
Joe Gonzales, sports editor
Well
it’s that time again everyone, time for me to start talking about something
that probably does not mean anything. In the end, it will end up sounding
like I know what the heck I am talking about. When I sat down and started
thinking about ideas for my next column, it hit me. I have lots of stuff on
my mind that I need to talk about. So here goes… I know you all have been
waiting for this, and it’s back… My 10 things I think I think.
10. What’s with all the commercials that are interrupting my football time
on Saturdays and Sundays? I mean, come on everyone. I am afraid that sooner
or later they will be going to commercial breaks after every play. It’s not
fair that my football time is being interrupted.
9. The lock on the door to the men’s restroom by the south door in the
Communications Building needs to be fixed. When you are “taking care of
business” and someone just walks in on you, it’s not a very cool feeling. I
guess since it’s 2004, no one knows that you should always knock before
entering a restroom. Just think, you will save yourself and the person who
might be ”taking care of business” a lot of embarrassment.
8. Well guys and girls, I gave it a try. I e-mailed Rich Dalrymple, the
director of public relations for the Dallas Cowboys, asking if there was any
chance I could get an interview with either Jerry Jones or Bill Parcells.
Needless to say, I was DENIED! Mr. Dalrymple was very professional with his
email he sent me and explained that due to the volume of request’s the
Cowboys organization receives, they have policy in place that keeps them
from fulfilling the several request they receive from student publications.
One day, I will have my interview with Jerry Jones or Bill Parcells, and
hopefully somehow work within the Cowboy organization.
7. It looks like everyone is finally starting to jump off the Redskins
bandwagon. When the Redskins beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 1 of the
NFL season, Mark Brunell was the second coming of Joe Montana and Clinton
Portis was another Walter Payton. How sweet it was to watch the Cowboys
continue their dominance of the Skins. So how much longer till little Danny
boy goes off on Joe Gibbs?
6. You know life is so confusing. When you think you know anything about
something, you are wrong and end up knowing nothing about anything. So, in
the end, we are all right, and it’s up to you to just go with your gut
feeling. If it works, that’s great, if not then life goes on, believe me.
5. Does anyone other than me think that the $7,500 fine that Roy Williams,
the starting strong safety for the Dallas Cowboys, was given for the hit he
delivered to Laverneus Coles, the wide receiver for the Redskins, was a
bunch of @#$%. Football is a contact sport. The NFL needs to lay off and let
the guys play.
4. Kobe Bryant is a punk. The more he opens his big mouth about his old
teammate Shaq, the more anxious I get about the Christmas Day match up
between the two former teammates. I really think that the Shaq man will
deliver some Shaq-Fu; I can’t believe I used the term Shaq-Fu.
3. It’s almost time for the Lady Texans and Texans to begin the season. As
usual, the Texans will be a strong team, and I think that Coach Lyndon
Hardin and Coach Michelle Wyatt will surprise a lot of people. I just hope
they will be able to take care of the New Mexico Lady Thunderbirds. I can’t
wait till the season starts.
2. Should Ricky Williams be able to come back to the NFL? In my opinion, I
think that he should be given a chance to come back. But if I were the
Dolphins, I would get rid of the guy as soon as he is cleared to return. I
would not want a player who simply gave up and quit on his team in favor of
smoking some weed. It will be interesting to see that if he comes back who
would actually want him as a part of their team. Some NFL analyst say that
the Oakland Raiders are one of the team Williams has interest in. Leave it
up to Al Davis to take a chance on a pothead.
1. Here is how I see the 2004 MLB playoffs, Yankees in a tough series with
the sox taking it in game seven and the Cardinals taking the Houston Astros
in four. I see the New York Yankees winning the World Series and adding
another trophy to the case.
Well, there you have it the 10 things that I think that I have thought. Hey
if I am confusing you, I am sorry, I just confuse myself all the time. When
you have so many things going at one time like me, you seem to get lost all
the time. See, there I go again. I just lost myself again. Well, until next
time, hopefully you enjoy my stuff and take care.
