SPC Symphonic Band to perform Oct. 19

The SPC Symphonic Band will be featured in its first concert
of the fall semester on Oct. 19.
Open to the public, the free concert
begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Theatre in the
Fine Arts Building.
The band has been practicing intensely
since the beginning of the semester as a part of the Music
1127 Symphonic Band class that meets Tuesdays and Thursdays
at 9:30 a.m. It is made up of SPC students and a few
volunteers from the community.
The pieces that the band will be
performing are “Flourish for Glorious John” by Ralph
Vaughan-Williams, “Athletic Festival March” by Sergei
Prokofiev, “Divertimento for Band” by Vincent Persichetti,
“Mercury” by Jan Van Der Roost, and “Chants Long Forgotten”
by Roland Barrett.
