Parents' ignorance causes high rate of unnecessary child deaths

by Justin Lopez, editorial assistant

Let me start off by saying that I am really angry with people right now.

I was kickin' it at momma Lisa's house recently when a voice on TV caught my ear. I turned, and as I watched the most profound thing in the whole world, I became sick to my stomach.

I found out that 133 children die each year from accidentally being left in the car. It only takes 40 minutes for the inside of a car to reach 120 degrees in an outside temperature of 85 degrees. A couple had left their two children in their car while they went and drank a few margaritas. Is that not disgusting?

I don't understand how someone can just do that. If you can forget to get your kids out of the car when you go out, then you are not worthy of being considered as a human being.

Forgetting your fish or phone on top of a car is one thing, but leaving your kids in the car in Arlington, Texas doesn't even compare with a fish. This isn't the first time either. It has happened many, many times this year alone.

Lucien Hoffman, a rugby player from Oregon, left his 2-year-old daughter in the car at a temperature of 95 degrees, so that he can go inside a very air-conditioned famous whorehouse, Mustang Ranch, located in Nevada with a friend and his girlfriend to attend a private function.

Meanwhile, a man leaves his 11-month-old son dead in the car all day at work. Do people not see kids just sitting in a car? How many people does it take to save a baby trapped in a car? Obviously, none.

Come on, people. Wake up and smell the ignorance. You know you have kids. You know you have responsibilities. You just flat out know better.

The incident that irks my nerves the most would have to be the mother who left her 7-month-old son in the car because of a lack of intelligence shown by her and her husband. He slid the child in the car while the mother’s back was turned. He also failed to mention it to her. For some strange reason, her 4-year-old was in the front seat, so no point in looking in the back, right? Wrong! You should always check your backseat for anything that you might need. The 4-year-old kid should have been in the backseat. That way she would have known the other child was back there too.

Let us not become stupid when it comes to juggling everything in life, because a small child's death could end up being the last visit to your sister’s house. You should always have your kids on your mind. It is inevitable.

No criminal charges were filed yet. Well, there should be charges filed on her, her husband, and anyone who might have seen that child in the backseat.

Check your backseats for now on. Let's stop killing our innocent children who haven't even begun to live.

That sounds like a good commercial; Parents: Tired of the kids getting you down? Lock your doors and pretend you left you child in the car by accident for THIS GREAT SALE!!! Works every time. Negligence, I say. Negligence.

One innocent child’s death plus two ignorant parents equals LIFE in prison. You do the math.
