Intramurals

Many students at South Plains College are involved in the intramural sports activities at the PE complex.


There are many different athletic activities that students are able to participate in. Intramural sports offer a stimulating workout for students who enjoy team sports, such as basketball, flag football and many other exciting activities. There is soon to be an activity where the dorms will compete against each other.


Soon 5-on-5 basketball will begin, the first meeting for that is going to be held on Nov. 1 at 8 p.m. Both men’s and women’s teams will be formed. Also a meeting for those interested in 4-on-4 basketball will also meet on Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. These teams will be coed. For those interested in playing Wallyball, a meeting on Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. This meeting will be for the team captains. All teams must be represented to be eligible for playing in the games.


Also, a Super Dorm 2004 Competition is getting underway for all residence hall occupants. Every resident hall s automatically registered, Each resident hall should have a chairperson. Each time a resident visits the complex to participate in one of the qualifying activities for their hall, they must check in with the Intramural staff. Competition begins Nov. 1 and ends Dec. 6. Activities must be performed on Monday, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays between 5 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Once the activity is completed, the Intramural staff will log in the results. Every resident who participated for the winning hall/apartments will receive a champion T-shirt.
 

The winning residence hall will be the one who, AS A TEAM, completes the following activities first: Make 2004 free throws, Walk/Run 2004 miles (pedometers will be used), Complete 2004 Sit-ups, Complete 2004 Push-ups, Complete 2004 minutes on the stationary bikes.
