Last-minute costume shopping not so
scary

Once a year, we have one opportunity to
be kids again.
This is a chance to be disguised as
someone or something else just for a night, and go all out and
dress up in something wild.
For college students, there are so many
options, from humorous costumes to creative. Of course, there
will always be the classics.
Besides the local CVS , places for
costume shopping are non -existent for Levelland residents. A
short trip to Lubbock will put you closer to some of the
ruthless crowds and endless selections of Halloween costumes.
Possibly the most well known is the party
supply store, Party City, which is connected to the South
Plains Mall, near the woman’s Dillard’s. They have created an
efficient system to be sure that you don’t wait long while
they find your chosen costume in your size. Along with
conservative prices, they have many accessories to enhance
those bloody and whimsical looks. During the two or three days
before Halloween, Party City will have a select few costumes
from their inventory on sale.
If you don’t find that last-minute
costume anywhere else, near 50th St. and Slide
Road, there is a much larger, but somewhat pricier, selection
at Spirit Halloween Superstore. This whole store is filled
with anything and every thing you will need to pull off the
look you want, along with any Halloween party decoration
needed. Their costumes are geared more toward the adult sizes,
as opposed to the kids’ costumes many other Halloween outlets
focus on. They offer a variety of selections, including many
creative costumes not seen in years before that are sure to
impress. All their costumes will be on sale up until and past
the big day.
Grant Hill, who is a manager at the
superstore, said “On Nov 1, we will be having a huge sale on
all our costumes.”
If you want to get a heads up on next
year or just want to scare some relatives at Thanksgiving,
this sale will offer a great price discount.
When asked what the most popular costumes
seemed to be this year, Christie Morrison, an employee at
Party City said, “Pirates aren’t as selling like we expected,
but random things such as the bumble bee and referee, along
with other animal costumes, seemed to be going the fastest.”
This same pattern was reflected when
employees at Spirit said they can hardly keep the “police”
costumes in stock, but their pirate sales were up.
No matter what you choose to be this
Halloween, keep it fun and go over the top, because that is
what it is all about. These main costume providers are a great
alternative to the old bedroom sheet with holes for a ghost.
