Basketball season sneaks up on sports

only a handful of games left to be played in the World Series
and pro and college football nearing their halfway marks of
the season, basketball season has kind of snuck up on some of
us.
Cross country teams sprint into first,
sweep regionals by Caroline Basile, sports editor
The South Plains College men’s and women’s cross country teams
won titles at the NJCAA Region V Championships.
The Texans posted a perfect score of 15
points, sweeping the top five spots at the meet held on Oct.
21 in Snyder. John Kosgei easily outdistanced the field with a
time of 21:45 to finish first. Jay Wilson finished second in
23:05, while Josphat Melly was third with a time of 23:06.
Michael Hernandez placed fourth in a time of 23:24, with T.K.
Revis finishing fifth with a time of 23:25, and Chase Wade
finishing 14th in 24:58.
Texans, Lady Texans picked second in
pre-season polls by Caroline Basile, sports editor
The South Plains College men’s basketball team has been picked
to finish second in the Western Junior College Athletic
Conference by the league coaches.
Midland College was picked second in the
preseason poll, while defending conference champion Howard
College was picked third.
No excuse for bad behavior

It seems that there is more violence in
our sports today than there was in the past. What happened to
just playing the game because it was your passion in life?
Coaches need to fully explain to their players that this
behavior is unacceptable. On Oct. 14th a team completely
disgraced itself and its coaching staff.

Question
I have had many an argument over what is
and isn’t considered to be a sport.
The biggest argument usually comes from
girls who want boys to acknowledge that what they participated
in is actually a sport. Well, I’m here to set the record
straight and tell everyone what exactly qualifies something to
be a sport.
