Exploring private lives of our personal planets
by Christopher Byram, co-opinion editor
There is a thing people like to say when a person is having
a particularly selfish moment: the world does not revolve
around you. It’s annoying to hear, it’s obnoxious to say,
and it’s wrong. We are all the dominant suns in our own
personal galaxies. My world does, in fact, revolve around
me. Yours does the same. But the strangest thing is that
those two worlds have virtually nothing in common with each
other. Our worlds are in completely different orbits.
Vegetarian diet saves lives one meal
at a time
by Sasha Malaeb, staff writer
Many people have different opinions on forms of
vegetarianism, and whether it’s right to kill animals.
Your future follows no road map
by Courtney Ortega, editorial assistant
When contemplating my college plans
last fall as a senior in high school, I’ll be the first to
admit that I never once imagined myself to be where I am
now.
Dropping friends should not be as easy as dropping classes
by Kersha Parker, staff writer
We hear over and over that college is about developing into
your own person.
We also hear that there are major changes that we will face
dealing with friendships, relationships etc.
No matter what age you start, still 'til death do us part'
by Brittany Bradford, co-opinion editor
When I was a little girl, just like every other girl my age,
I was a little princess.
I loved dress-up, Barbies and putting
all that red lipstick on in all the wrong places. And just
like every other little girl, I dreamed of one day putting
on a fluffy white dress and getting all “dolled up,” having
all eyes on me and ending the day with a nice huge piece of
white cake. Like every other little girl, I dreamed of my
wedding, and I can’t say much has changed since then, except
that I’m not a little girl anymore.
First time to vote comes at crucial election
by Ali Flores, staff writer
We hear over and over that college is about developing into
your own person.
We also hear that there are major changes that we will face

Living on campus added bonus to college experience
by Beka Rutledge, editorial assistant
College is a time for growing up and becoming the person you
want to be for the rest of your life.
I think that a person’s living arrangements during his or
her years in college influence their personality and
characteristics. There are three different categories of
living arrangements for college students.
Being foreign opens eyes to racism
by Isa Torres, staff writer
Racism is something that I hate and despise.
When I hear someone saying some kind of joke, even if it is
meant to be innocent and funny, I consider it to be stupid
and horrible. A few weeks ago, I learned that Dr. James
Watson discovered the structure of DNA.
Fast food meal ticket to unhealthy lifestyle
by Alex Everett, co-feature editor
The
availability to get a quick bite to eat these days is out of
control.
How lazy is
this nation becoming? Fast food corporations are at an
all-time high right now, with cheap, convenient, unhealthy
food that they are selling to the majority of America. I am
guilty of eating entirely too much junk and fast food during
my college career and I am going to attempt to make a
change.
Understanding key to marital bliss
by Leah Harbin, staff writer
I’ve
found a guy worth keeping around.
We’re
talking about getting married. My parents and family are
cool with the idea, but many of my friends and classmates
are counseling me to wait until I’m older. They say I have
no idea what I want for my life, since I’m only 20.
Senseless attacks at hands of Blackwater USA
by Hylann Camacho, editorial assistant
There has been growing concern and
controversy surrounding the hired defense corporation
Blackwater USA.
Blackwater USA is a private military
company and can also be called a security contractor or a
mercenary organization. I like to refer to them as unstable,
violent forces. The guards seem to have a tough time
refraining from shooting people; sometimes it’s just
innocent bystanders.
Spicy pop princesses make Thymely return
by Sawyer Thomas, staff writer
Be prepared to “Spice” up your life as
those legendary euro-pop stars, The Spice Girls, plan for
their 2007 World Tour and the release of their Greatest Hits
album.
Global warming failing to heat up interest
by Robert Stone, staff writer
We
live in a world that has become very jaded from watching
events unfold on global television - both natural and
human-induced - that it takes something really spectacular
even to get our attention.
