Texans ready for another run at glory

With the changing of the leaves comes basketball season, and with the new basketball season comes high expectations.

Anthem slowly becoming just another tradition

But there is something that we have started to take for granted that may just be the most important part of any sporting event, the “The Start Spangled Banner,” our national anthem.

Take 'C' out of BCS

As the mid-season of college football nears, it is obvious that that the game is changing.

The “Big Conferences” have become so powerful that no matter how good a team is or how deep the depth chart is there is almost no way they can make it through a full regular season and a conference championship without a loss.
 

Ramirez strikes out with recent comments

Here comes Manny Ramirez, lining up at the plate and settling into the batters box.

The pitcher winds up and serves another beautiful pitch for Ramirez to crush. The ball flies over the fence, and into the frenzied crowd. He throws his hands in the air, casually starts walking toward first base, and then starts his homerun jog around the bases.

SPC runners defend home turf

On Saturday October 13, in Levelland both the men and women’s SPC cross country teams won the Subway/South Plains College Cross Country Festival.

The men easily took first place with 17 points outdistancing second place Lubbock Christian University by 42 points.

Roller derby skates its way into Lubbock

Roller Derby is taking West Texas by storm. What started out as only a handful of 12 girls has now expanded during the past three weeks to a number closer to 40 all thanks to “Lethal Whoopin'” from Oregon.

Lack of competitive schedule brings to question to Patriots

Surprising return for Osborne as AD

It’s been 10 years since he left the sidelines, but Husker fans were delighted to welcome back Tom Osborne to the University of Nebraska athletic program. 

This time, however, he won’t be calling plays for the Huskers, he’ll be calling the shots.  Osborne, 70, became the interim athletic director at Nebraska on Oct. 16.
