Big dogs of NBA must step up, lead pack

The beginning of the new NBA season is close at hand, and
the teams wishing to rise to the top and win a championship
will emerge early.
These teams
will be led by several men who have what it takes to be
leaders, yet they haven’t realized and grasped the full
picture. There are 10 players, two from each position, that
I believe need to step up and become leaders for their
teams, become legends.
Texans welcome new arrivals, prepare to defend national
championship

Last
season, the South Plains College men’s basketball team won
their first national championship in the school’s 50-year
history, and they hope to repeat.
The
first regular-season game tips off on Nov. 3 at 7 p.m at the
Texan Dome, with the Texans hosting Lubbock Christian’s JV
squad.
Men's Cross Country team first at San Angelo Meet

The SPC men and
women’s cross country teams continue to train hard as they
prepare for national competition.
South Plains
College was scheduled to run in Levelland on Oct.11, but the
meet was cancelled due to bad weather. For added
competition, the cross country teams competed at San Angelo,
in the ASU Blue & Gold meet, on Oct. 14.
Meet the Texans slated for Oct. 27

introduced during the annual “Meet the Texans” event on Oct.

Lady Texans look to defend 2008 conference title

The South Plains College Lady Texans look to defend to their
conference title as they enter the 2008-2009 season.
The team finished the 2007-2008 season with a 26-4 record
overall, finishing 13-1 in the Western Junior College
Athletic Association Conference and defeating New Mexico
Junior College for the championship.
Weiser earns all-around cowgirl, women's team third at Sul
Ross

recent competitions at Vernon College and Sul Ross State
University, highlighted by an all-around cowgirl performance
by Dana Weiser.
