Fat
and lazy: An American way of life
by Angel Michael Cano, opinion editor
Even with dietitians and doctors strongly urging
Americans to eat less and exercise more, the majority of us continue to lead
unhealthy lifestyles by smoking, drinking and eating poorly.
It
seems a bit unjust that in this “Land of the Free,” one is deemed
“Un-American” because they chose dissent. In fact, it possesses just a hint
of irony.

your most unhealthy habit? Do you want to change it?"

Who decides public
intoxication? How much is too much?
by Scott Harris, staff writer
Imagine sitting back trying to relax after a hard days work. You stopped at
your favorite corner bar and ordered yourself a relaxing alcoholic cocktail
of your choice.
The first sip is what the doctor ordered to forget the stressful and trying
day. Then you receive a tap on your shoulder. The taping comes from a Texas
Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) officer. The reasoning behind him
disturbing you is that he suspects you of public intoxication.
We live in a small town overrun with conservatives—and I’m not one of
them. So people talk. I’ve been through stages in which I’ve questioned the
complete existence of God, and I’m against organized religion because I
think it’s a sham. And because I am a liberal, covered in tattoos, and a
headbanger who doesn’t go to church, people often ask if I worship Satan.
Holy
matrimony! I want the fairytale

I’m
about to make a bold statement: I’ve become well known for my cynicism and
bitterness toward love and relationships, and that whole ‘mess’. But I think
that I might be conforming. Maybe not completely conforming, but definitely
to a degree.
Barbacoa, Carne Guisada, Carne Picada, Hot Dogs, Sloppy Joes and Frito Pies
are just a few of the meat entrees I used to eat.
Growing up a Mexican/Filipino American, I was used to eating many plates
with tons of meat on it. I never really thought that there was much to it.
I am
in shock and awe!
I just found out that the students attending public schools in Cobb County
School District in Atlanta, Georgia, became the victims of the pure
ignorance of religious zealots. All biology books used in this district
display stickers claiming that scientifically proven facts apparently are
nothing but “theory.”
