Fighting for Sex Ed in Schools - Lubbock Youth Educates Others

The State Board of Education chooses, and is funded by Congress, to condone an “abstinence-only” education curriculum, leaving hormone-driven teenagers in the dark to vital information about being sexually active.  With the high rates of sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancies among teens in Texas, many people have been questioning and challenging the effectiveness of the current sexual education programs.

Black Melds Passion for Art with Mettle in Classroom

Black, assistant professor of art, is in her fourth year at South Plains College. She earned a bachelor of fine arts degree at Virginia Tech, then went back to school at Texas Tech University when she was 30 in order to earn her master’s degree.

Many times, people get pets for all the wrong reasons. One of the most popular reasons is when a pet is a newborn and a must-have at the time. Like humans, pets grow old and still need as much attention as they do when they are young. People tend to show less interest in older pets and eventually turn away from the responsibility.
