The South Plains College Communications Department is converting to a digital news broadcast.

Student Orientation Changing to 'New Student Experience'

As new students arrive at SPC, they will soon realize that there is no more student orientation, as it existed in the past.

Student orientation will be changed to the “New Student Experience.” The New Student Experience is not a class. It will be a four-hour lecture on the mornings of Dec. 8, 2005 and Jan. 11, 2006.

SkillsUSA Chapter Hosting Concert to Raise Funds

 for Automotive, Welding Programs

The South Plains College Skills USA chapter will host a concert to raise money for students from the automotive and welding technology programs to participate in the state level competition in San Antonio.

The fundraiser will be Nov. 17 in the Sundown Room at 7 p.m. The concert is open to anyone with a student ID or is age 17 or older. Individuals with an ID will get in for $3, and the general public and student couples will be admitted for $5.

The Office of Student Activities at South Plains College will continue a long-standing tradition by hosting the 48th annual Miss Caprock competition.

The event will take place in the Tom T. Hall Recording and Production Studio on Nov. 18 at 7 p.m.

“This event is very deeply rooted and very important,” said Stan Weatherred, director of student activities.
