Texans 'guarded' as they gear up for new season

Following a season with 24 wins, the South Plains College men’s basketball team looks to build on that success as they begin the 2006-2007 campaign.

The Texans advanced to the semifinals of the Region V Tournament in 2006, finishing with a 24-6 record overall.

SPC ex Kipyego named Athlete of the Year

Former South Plains College track and field star Sally Kipyego was honored recently for her outstanding achievements in track and field, and cross country competitions.

 

Lady Texans win three to open new season

The South Plains College women’s basketball team got its season off to an impressive start with three consecutive victories, the Breakfast Rotary Tournament in Levelland.

In their first game, the Lady Texans never lost their lead in the game and ran away to a 76-46 victory against Colby College at the Texan Dome. 

What grinds my gears

Recently, I have been bothered by certain events in the sporting world.

 They range from a simple officiating call that was wrong, to athletes getting attention for stuff that is just stupid, and Texas Longhorn fans who think they are almighty, even without Vince Young.

Women's cross country team runs to national title

The South Plains College women’s cross country team won the NJCAA national championship recently. It is the first title for the women’s cross country program.

 

Saints among surprises as NFL season hits midpoint
