Expect unexpected for remainder of NFL season
by Nathan Wall, staff writer
Here we are, about halfway through the

With only about seven or eight games

right, the rest of the season.

by Brant Thurmond, editorial
assistant
As I was recently watching ESPN, I
found out that Dale Earnhardt Jr. would no longer drive the
number 8 car.
In case you don’t know, Junior
announced earlier in the year that he would not be driving
for Dale Earnhardt Inc. in 2008. He announced he would be
driving for Hendrick Motorsports.

Fan loyalties only skin deep
by Robert Box, sports editor
I was once again enjoying watching my
Dallas Cowboys win a game against the Philadelphia Eagles
when Terrell Owens once again made waves in the media for
his comments after the game.
This was only the second time that
Owens would be back in Philadelphia after being kicked off
the team in 2005.
Brady outshines Manning in showdown
by Nathan Wall, staff writer
With a
player-by-player presentation that read like a future Hall
of Fame introduction class, the game of the century was not
short on hype.
But did it
live up to the lofty expectations? We heard it called the
game of the century, battle of the unbeatens, and even Super
Bowl 41 and a half. The last title made the assumption that
one of these two teams would be winning the big game in
February.

New records mean new era for NFL
by John Stewart, staff writer
Looking through some of the records in
the NFL, many have been surpassed or on pace to be passed.
Players presently playing seem to break
records held by former players. Every week, there is some
kind of different record being broken or one being set.
Players seem to get more athletic and versatile as years go
by, making more of an impact now.
Seats start heating up for college coaches
by Cody Barron, staff writer
It’s about that
time of year again: college football is in full swing
While some
teams are cruising through the season celebrating their
success, other teams are struggling and looking for a new
play-caller. Phillip Fulmer, head coach at the University
of Tennessee, said it best when he said, “The highs are
high, and the lows are low in this profession.”
