Scoggins entertains community through magic

Life never goes as planned, at least not for Russell Scoggins.

Scoggins, also known as the ‘Magic Guy’ to some around the area, was born and raised in Lubbock. He attended P.F. Brown Elementary School, O.L. Slaton Jr. High School, and Lubbock High School. After, high school, he continued his education at Texas Tech University, studying advertising. Along the way, he found where his true calling was.

Journey around world brings Seeling to SPC

Having ambition brings Lydia Seeling around the world to South Plains College.

At only 18, Seeling is currently in her second semester. She is studying foreign language and economics. Seeling’s journey is not a typical path that students tend to take.

Life changes through unintended journey

David Etheredge wasn’t always dedicated to education.

After graduating from high school in Hobbs, Texas, Etheredge had no intention of going to college. He worked for a year in farming and realized that wasn’t what he wanted to do with his life. He decided to go to Western Texas College in Snyder to get his associate’s degree in biology.

Carr's recognition reflects life passion

Joe Carr has brought numerous creative and innovative ideas to the commercial music program at South Plains College.

He says that the music taught is not a thing you do and then stop. It is a life process, and it will always be there for you. With Carr’s passion and charisma, his recent award from the International Bluegrass Music Association does not come as a shock to his friends and colleagues.
