Sanders-Frison, Ming ink letters of intent to continue
basketball careers

Texan basketball players Markhuri Sanders-Frison and Hugh
Mingo recently signed National Letters of Intent to continue
their basketball careers with four-year universities.
Mingo, a 6-foot-3 guard from West
Monroe, Louisiana, is going back home to complete his
college basketball career at the University of Louisiana at
Monroe.
Mingo averaged 6.6 points off the bench
for a team that went on to win the National Championship
last season. He shot 52 percent from the field, and averaged
two rebounds per game.
In five games this season, Mingo has
averaged 17.4 points per game, two steals and has shot an
astonishing 62.5 percent from beyond the arc.
I am excited about the opportunity to
continue my basketball career and to be close to my family,
Mingo said.
Sanders-Frison, a 6-foot-8 post from
Portland, Oregon, inked his scholarship agreement to play
for the University of California at Berkeley.
So far this season, he has averaged
15.7 points per game. Sanders-Frison attended Eastern
Arizona College before coming to SPC, averaging 10 points
and 10 rebounds per game there.
Sanders-Frison said that he chose the
Golden Bears because, It is on the West Coast, close to
home, and a great program. Since transferring to South
Plains College, Sanders-Frison has found it to his liking.
I like everything about this place,
especially the coaching staff and my teammates, he said.
The Texans are 5-0 at the moment, with
wins against LCU JV, Baltimore City Community College and
Lon Morris. Each win has been by 20 points or more. Mingo
and Sanders-Frison are making vital contributions to help
the team return to NJCAA tournament.
