Supercross 05

The 2005 supercross season began with the first of three races in Anaheim CA.
James “Bubba” Stewart has risen to the 250 class, still
riding for Kawasaki, up from 125’s. Ricky Carmichael is back after sitting out
all of the supercross season last year due to a knee surgery, but he is back
and now riding for team Suzuki after being with Honda for about 3 years.
Also, the always-deadly one two punch of team Amsoil
Honda’s Kevin Windham and Mike Laracco mixed up in the points race along with
other great riders such as Nike Way, Travis Pastrana, and Chad Reed this
season promises to be action packed to the max. In the past few seasons, Reed
has dominated the supercross world, followed by Windham.
In the first race of the season sparks flew as Windham
and Larocco came in first and second, followed by Carmichael in a close third
to get the ball rolling. In the second race at Phoenix’s Bank One ballpark,
Carmichael jumped out to an early lead. And battled Windham and Reed for most
of the race. In the end, Carmichael prevailed, followed by Windham in second
and Reed in third. In the second of three races, at Anaheim Carmichael
returned to his true leading form with his second win in a row. Reed was able
to take over the second spot, and Windham rounded out the top three.
With 13 races left in the season, Carmichael and Windham
are only four points apart in the season standings, which means it is still
anyone’s season to take. But you also cannot forget about Reed, who has
preformed strong in the last two races. Carmichael and Reed are both great
riders, but I believe that Windham will take the cake after the dust has
settled.
