climbing toward top in conference play

The South Plains College men’s basketball team is off to a
good start this season in Western Junior College Athletic
Conference play.
On Jan.
27, The Texans used 18 points from Constantin Motnii to
rally back and beat the New Mexico Military Institute 88-78
in Roswell.

Texans remain unbeaten, shooting for perfection

Holding on strong to the No. 1 spot in the national
rankings, the South Plains College Lady Texans held on to
their 21-0 season with their 75-57 victory against Odessa
College’s Lady Wranglers.
The Lady Texans shot
63 percent from the field in the first half, leading 39-21
at the break. SPC ended the game shooting 59 percent from
the field.
Parcells calls it quits, leaves Cowboys by Cody Barron, staff writer
The 2006 season was quite likely the last time we will see

Bill Parcells, head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, called it
quits on Jan. 22. In an e-mail sent out that morning,
Parcells said simply, “I’m retiring from coaching football.”
Parcells, 65, decided to walk away from the $5.5 million
that he was due to earn during the final year of his
contract in the 2007 season.
Beckham 'bending it' for LA millions

There was a huge news splash when David Beckham announced
that he would be leaving his team in Spain to join Major
League Soccer’s Los Angeles Galaxy. Many people in America
believe that this will be the event that turns soccer into a
major sport. The only problem is that football, basketball
and baseball are still being played.
Track
teams open indoor season at Tech by Caroline Basile, sports editor
The South Plains College men’s and women’s track and field
teams opened their 2007 indoor season recently.
SPC’s runners competed at the Texas Tech Invitational Jan.
19-20 at the Texas Tech Athletic Training Center.

No. 1 spot in the NJCAA National Women’s Basketball Poll.

first time in school history the Lady Texans have reached
