Washington proves words have power
by Caroline Basile,
editor-in-chief
The government has its ways of passing acts and new bills
without much fanfare, without publicity on the major TV news
stations and newspapers.
This is the way they want it, a nation
that does not ask questions, or look into what they are
doing.
'P.S. I Love You' delivers clever romantic comedy
by Hilary McNamara, associate
editor “P.S. I Love You” is a
movie that finally captures the reality of love, showing not
only the good side but also the bad side too.
This clever romantic comedy never has a
dull moment and will pull moviegoers into this heart filled
movie. Holly Kennedy (Hilary Swank) is quirky, beautiful and
married to the love of her life, Gerry (Gerald Butler).
Gerry is everything Holly is not. He is an outgoing
Irishman. Together they make a dynamic duo that seems
inseparable.
Paramore has fans singing 'Halleluiah' with new album
by Chelsea Baham, staff
writer Like many Pop-Punk
bands, Paramore’s tracks are stuffed with sing-a-long worthy
lyrics and danceable tunes while maintaining glorious
displays of the highest highs and lowest lows of youth.
Through energetic and well-groomed
melodies, this band has made a hard impact on the mainstream
music scene. With Riot!, the band’s follow-up album
to the 2005 release of All We Know is Falling, there
is a healthy dose of teen angst and powerful, guitar-filled
melodies. The first single from the new disc, “Misery
Business”, has not been easily escaped since its debut
in 2007.
Smith enthralls audience with legendary film
by Brittany Bradford, opinion
editor
Few actors dare to take on the feat of a solo role with the
entire plot, dialogue and conflict resting solely on his or
her shoulder.
However, when it is done right, a role of this magnitude can
make or break a career. In this case, the actor in this
solo spot, whose career has been made over and over with
blockbusters such as “Independence Day,” “Men in Black” and
“Pursuit of Happyness,” his performance in this literal
“edge-of-your-seat” thriller “I am Legend” was just the
icing on the cake to the already highly-praised legacy of
Will Smith.
'Sweeney Todd' slices through box office
by Hilary McNamara, associate
editor “Sweeney Todd: The
Demon Barber of Fleet Street” unfolds a mysterious dark
world of revenge, love and deception.
Johnny Depp does it again by portraying
a psychotic, love-driven, murdering barber. Benjamin Barker,
aka. Sweeney Todd (Johnny Depp), was a naïve barber with a
beautiful wife and baby girl who had the whole world at his
hands. That is, until the evil Judge Turpin (Alan Rickman)
comes along and plucks Barker from his world.
'Cloverfield' monsterous sci-fi thriller
by Justin Lopez, staff writer
IIn the midst of all
the brilliant films that have been released lately comes the
anticipated thriller, “Cloverfield.”
Some say that it will not make it, but unlike any other
monster film, they ended it the right way. The film was
directed by Matt Reeves and has a cast of 20somethings such
as Michael Stahl-David, Mike Vogel, T.J. Miller, Odette
Yustman, Jessica Lucas, and my personal favorite, Lizzy
Caplan.
'Atonement' leaves little room for redemption
by Tom Hill, staff writer
Atonement: Satisfaction or reparation for a wrong or injury.
It’s a perfect title for the movie that
I feel I am owed some atonement for having to sit through.
This is a classic love story of two lovers who belong to
opposite ends of the social ladder who are painfully torn
apart and the battle to find each other that ensues.

by Kat Irwin, staff writer

first solo album by the politically-scratched voice of Serj

Beirut, Lebanon. He is the Armenian-American singer for the
band System of a Down. Tankian took singing and guitar
lessons as a young boy and moved with his parents to Los
Angeles, Calif. at age 5. After high school, he studied
