Need a job? Check out the Job Fair March 8

College will be hosting the annual job fair, set for March 8.
This is the college’s 26th year
to hold the Job Fair. This opportunity provides career networking options is
open for anyone, including current and former SPC students, as well as
members of the community.
The Job Fair will be held from
10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Sundown Room of the Student Center. Any employer
who would like to have a booth, should register by Feb. 25, according to
Susan Rushing, SPC placement counselor and Job Fair coordinator.
“A wide variety of employers
representing numerous career opportunities on the South Plains and other
parts of Texas and New Mexico attend our annual job
fairs,” said Rushing. They
include call centers, agriculture, engineering services, finance and loan,
construction, education, agriculture, food distribution, government, home
health care, government, medical, manufacturing/distribution, insurance,
industrial, law enforcement, non-profit, nursing home, security guard
service, software development, social services, transportation. utilities,
radio and telecommunications.
“The job fair attendees need to
realize that a positive first impression is important when talking to
potential employers,” said Rushing. “This means that appropriate attire and
personal hygiene are essential.
“The career field somewhat
determines how a person should dress,” Rushing added, “However, neatness and
cleanliness always reflect a more positive image. She also advises job fair
participants to speak clearly to employers without gum or food in the mouth,
to have relevant questions in mind to ask employers, and to show employers a
serious attitude about entering the world of work.
A noon mini seminar will
provide Job Fair how-to information on Feb. 23 from 12:15-12:45 p.m. in
SS111, next door to the Counseling Center.
Those who need assistance with
resumes can make appointments through the Guidance and Counseling
Center-Levelland and Reese campuses.
