Rock Talk
by Jacqui Streety, editor-in-chief
Greetings rockers! I’m back
to deliver some more news about this great world in which I live—the world
of metal, that is. There isn’t too much going on right now, but I’ll give
you the latest.
The amazing God Forbid will
begin recording an album dubbed “IV: Constitution of Treason” which should
be out later this summer. The band will also be touring with Soulfly and
Death by Stereo.
Machine Head is to release
a live DVD, “Through the Ashes of England,” which will be out on May 17.
Meshuggah, the gods of
progressive metal, have finished mastering their new CD, “Catch 33” to be
released in Europe on April 11. A U.S. release date has yet to be
determined..
The remaining members of
Seattle’s gods of grunge, Alice in Chains, performed a tsunami benefit show
in their hometown on Feb. 18. This is the first show since they broke up in
1996. Someone definitely recorded this show (bootleg or otherwise), so look
for that online.
Shenoa (members of Chimaira
and Ring Worm) released their debut EP “Bleeding in the Red” on Valentine’s
Day.
As I Lay Dying, an awesome
Hardcore band, finished their new as yet-to-be-titled album to be released
in June. They will be touring North America with Throwdown this spring.
A band mentioned in this
column previously, Dark Blue (composed of Sevendust, Skrape and Stereomud
members) have changed their name to Dark New Day. They will be releasing
their debut, “Twelve Year Silence” in June.
Unearth (another
hellamazing Hardcore act) is reissuing “The oncoming Storm” with two bonus
tracks and the video for “Black Hearts Now Reign” on March 8. Also, CkY is
set to release “The Butcher’s Hand”later this year.
On April 12, the uniquely
talented Mindless Self Indulgence will release their new album, “You’ll
Rebel to Anything.”
NIN and all their glory
will release their new album, “With Teeth” on May 3. The first single will
be “The Hand that Feeds.”
Converge has remixed,
remastered, and repackaged their albums, “Petitioning the Empty Sky” and
“When Forever Comes Crashing” and will re-release them on March 22.
Mudvayne is scheduled to
release their new album “Lost and Found” on April 12.
Martyr A.D. is going on
tour with Hardcore’s oldschoolers Agnostic Front, Love is Red and All Shall
Perish. The North American dates will be announced soon.
Well, that’s all I’ve got
for now. From your host who rocks the most, peace out.
