Texans Look to Regain Footing

The freshman-dominated
Texans have quickly found out what conference road games are all about. The
SPC Texan basketball team started the season on fire jumping out to a 17-2
record, including 3-0 in conference play.
Lady Texans Aiming for Postseason

SPC defeated
Howard
College,
70-48 on Jan. 30. The Lady Texans were led by Dominic Seals, who
contributed 23 points, nine rebounds, two blocks, and two steals. Fallon
Thomas chipped in 16 points, while Brooke DeGrate poured in 12 points, and
Alana Rumph scored 10. The Lady Texans held Howard to just 32 percent
shooting from the field and forced 20 turnovers.
Texan Track team Sets Six School Records at First Indoor Meet

SPC brought home titles in
the men’s and women’s triple jump. Zulaykah Ali placed first in the women’s
triple jump with a leap of 39 feet, 11 inches. Shardae Boutte placed first
in the men’s triple jump with a jump of 49 feet, ¾ inches. Both SPC students
broke their own school records that they set last year.

Pittsburgh 21, Seahawks 10.
But
the message that was delivered throughout the Super Bowl on Feb. 5 was that
there obviously was a 12th man, and it wasn’t the fans. I’m
talking about the guys in the zebra outfits with the whistles around their
necks. Those guys may have had a bigger impact on the outcome, of the
biggest football game in the nation, than they were supposed to have.

As I watched the football
season come to a close and the Pittsburgh Steelers lay a hurting on the
Seattle Seahawks, only one question jumped to mind in the middle of a
peaceful nap: How long until baseball season?
