NCAA needs to add own 'Rooney Rule'
by Jerry Thomas, staff writer
Growing up in West Texas my whole life taught me countless
lessons about the level of ignorance that this part of the
nation has when it comes to Black History.

apparent all over the nation. It also is just not Black
history, but more like history, period. Even I have to
admit that through the years I have lost a tremendous amount
of knowledge about African American History. But I at least
know what month this country is supposed to celebrate the
history of my ancestors.

Former coach Hardin honored
by Caroline Basile, sports editor
Lyndon Hardin, former head coach for South Plains College’s
Lady Texans, was honored recently during the Lady Texans’
game against Western Texas College.
“It’s quite an honor and very
humbling,” Hardin said of the presentation by the college.
“You have to stop and think about all the people that share
in this award with me. My family, past assistant coaches and
players, Joe Tubb, and SPC. It’s an honor, but not just
mine.” |
