Regents approve construction bids

The South Plains College Board of Regents approved bids for
construction on the Communications Building and renovations
on Texan Dome during their February meeting.
Construction manager Jim McCutchin presented the bids for
the Communications Building to the Board. He presented
contractors who had the best bid and were capable of doing
the job well. He said that having the contractors compete
with bids saved the college money without compromising
quality.
Kirk, Gains garner Homecoming crown

The crowning of the king and queen and a performance by the
world famous Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders were among the
highlights of the 50th annual Homecoming at South Plains
College.
The crowning took place on Feb. 14
during halftime of the Lady Texans basketball game against
Odessa College, and the cheerleader performance took place
during halftime of the Texans game.
Seniors get 'Sneak' peak of SPC on Feb. 22

More than 700 area high school seniors will soon unite on
South Plains College’s Levelland campus to get a glimpse of
college life.
The students will be participating in
Senior Sneak Preview, which is scheduled for Feb. 22.
Kathryn John, the new student recruiter
at SPC, said, “This is my first year to organize this, and
I’m excited about that. It’s fun for area seniors, and a
great day for faculty and staff to showcase what SPC is
like.
Students invited to free Oscar panel discussion

College students are encouraged
to attend an exciting night of panel discussions and a look
into an entertainment production studio.
Caprock
Film Society will be having an Academy Awards panel
discussion and tour of Digital Base.
It will be
held on Feb. 20 at 7:30 p.m. at Digital Base Productions,
located at 2715 81st Street in Lubbock.
Graduation deadline set for March 1

For students who plan to graduate in the spring or summer of
2008, the deadline to apply for graduation is getting close.
Students must turn in a completed
application, either by mail or in person, by March 1. There
is no application fee. If the student qualifies, he or she
will receive a letter in April with all of the details and
information for graduating.
Scholarship deadline fast approaching

The deadline for current and incoming students to submit
their applications for scholarships is fast approaching.
South Plains College offers
college-wide, program-specific and nontraditional
scholarships to students who have performed well
academically. The deadline to apply is March 1.
