No matter where I go, God is in control

by Isa Torres, staff writer

During the past few weeks, the feeling of having a future has been with me constantly.

To me, having security means leaving everything up to God. I know that what He has for me is what is good for me.

Many people might think that I am a lazy guy who does not care about anything. Well, let me tell you that having no worries is a nice thing to have in life.

The reason I feel that I have something waiting for me is because of the things around me. I come from a family that is very different. I was raised in an evironment that very few people will be exposed to. But the past is just as interesting as the present.

Throughout my life, I have learned that God is in control. I cannot think of any time when something bad did not turn out to be something really helpful to me. I have come to realize that we have no control over the future.
We are called to do everything with the best of our efforts. We are called to become more like Christ. But we are also called to trust God in everything.
Like I said before, we have no control over our future. There is no future. We never know when a car is going to run over our mom, or when a tornado is going to destroy a whole city and leave a bunch of dead people behind. I know I don’t have a future, but I know I have a God.
I know God loves me, and He has something wonderful for me, not on this earth, but in heaven.
The last article I wrote was about Kaitlin Lowrance, a sophomore at SPC who recently took a mission trip to Serbia. She said that Earth is not our home, so it really does not matter if we live here or in Iraq.
At least I know that I would not care if I was in a “terrible” country. I know that God’s protection will be with me.
That is trusting God. To me, that is being successful in life.
I am thankful for being able to use this media to express my passions. I write about people who trust God. I write about people who make a change just by trusting the Lord.
I know my future is to continue to do that, either here or in China. I will be successful at it.
I believe that is my future, and I am thankful for it.
