Defining our generation before we rule this nation

by Brittany Bradford, opinion editor

Its no secret that my generation has already distinguished itself as one that is much different than the others that came before it.

We have seen more major discoveries, tragedies and technological changes than any other. Now, for the first time, we are in a position to vote. Just as our country is split, so is our generation.

Gas prices leave wallet just as empty as tank

by Caroline Basile, editor-in-chief

Like most college students, my dependency on a vehicle is very high.

Living in a day and age when gas prices go up and down a daily, or even hourly. I am ready to pull my hair out every time I go to the pumps.

With a gallon of gas averaging $2.97, according to the government's Energy Information Administration, I can see why many groan, myself included when we go to fill up our cars.

Interpersonal relationships lacking in work environment

Managers only respect employees they favor

As I walked through the big heavy doors of the restaurant, it took all of my strength to keep from crying.

I clock in, put on my apron and start doing side work in a corner to pass the time and not let anyone see my watery eyes. Having a job is tough. Working in a restaurant is even tougher, and dealing with managers who hate you is about the toughest thing of all.

Snowboarding proves to be uplifting life challenge

by Schuyler Clark, staff writer

There are a multitude of high-risk, intense sports and activities that really tickle me where I like it.

Some that I would like to try out some day such as racing, sky diving, snowboarding, hitman, kickboxing, water and snow-skiing, hang gliding, scuba diving, smuggling, juggling with chainsaws and various other dangerous actions.  But out of all of these, I have only recently crossed snowboarding off my personal to-do list. Not that it is the least or more insignificant, rather, it is one of the most awesome and uplifting experiences I have had in my lifetime.

Good service should be rewarded with good tips

by Hylann Camacho, online editor

For those of you who don’t know this, waiters and waitresses usually only make a measly $2.15 an hour.

Waiting tables involves the action of someone catering to someone’s needs, such as serving food, drinks or both. The waiter or waitress also tries to attend to every other need that the customer may have, in order to receive a good tip when the customer decides to leave.

Clinton's contradictions cause confusion

by Jason Hartline, staff writer

It is a great social advancement in the United States for a woman to run for president and for the people to elect her if they so choose.

However, that is not a reason to throw out our standards.  There may have been some presidents in the past who made some mistakes, but each was honorable. That seems to be a prerequisite for a presidential candidate.
