Delivers Sweet Valentine
by Margot Gonzales, staff writer
With love in the air and weather perfect for the occasion,
Valentines Day was a hit.
From the moment I woke up, I knew it was only a matter of
time until I felt my insides turn. Not only was it the day I loathe, but
also the day my favorite band was going to play here in Lubbock at Jake’s
Ballroom in Lubbock.
Blood Brothers turn
up heat for Lubbock show
by Jessica Safavimehr
Excitement filled the air as the doors slowly opened and people were allowed
in the tiny venue. Row by row, people filled space and began to anticipate
the opening bands. After about 30 minutes of filing in, the Mean Reds took
their places on stage. The Mean Reds are a five- piece band out of Tucson,
Arizona and they blew the audience away with their charismatic performance.
"Carnival" -
a magical, musical experience to remember
by Ray Buffington, entertainment editor
South Plains College Theatre razzles
and dazzles the audience again by putting on a fantastic
performance of Michael Stewart’s musical “Carnival”. Menacing
magicians, cute card girls, and a few peppery puppets paraded
around the stage, telling a tale of love, desire, and comedy
that was truly enjoyable.
"Constantine:" Demons, angels battle for souls
by Jacqui Streety, editor-in-chief
“Constantine” is an intricate tale
of spirituality and a battle of principalities. It is Heaven and
Hell, and all the powers of both, alive on Earth for the sole
purpose of winning souls. John Constantine, played by Keanu
Reeves, is an exorcist of demons attempting to buy his way to
Heaven with each demon that he sends back to Hell. He has been
marked by God with the gift of discerning supernatural beings.
