SPC's "Beer Man" drinking up country music success

by Marissa Rauch, staff writer

One of Trent Willmon’s songs on his newly released album is titled, “The Good Life.”  To many it appears that the former South Plains College student is indeed living “the good life.”

Willmon grew up on his father’s cattle ranch near Afton, a small town with a school that contained 100 students from kindergarten through 12th grade, seven of which were in his high school graduating class.

Willmon grew up without a TV but learned to read at a very young age, as books were one of the only forms of entertainment around the house. During high school, Willmon competed in 4-H and FFA events, and when he was 16, his mother bought him his first guitar.
