America:
Land of the gluttons, home of the wasteful Let's clean up this
throw-away-society
by Jacqui Streety, editor-in-chief
Recently, I’ve become interested in
the amount of waste generated by and in the United States, so I
did some research and what I came up with was quite startling.
There are no
strangers - Only friends you've never met
by Caitlin Forbes, opinion editor
I had to have been sitting in front of my computer screen for
nearly two hours staring down at a blank page that, by this
time, should have been my article.
The deadline was swiftly approaching, and I still hadn’t the
slightest idea of what my story would be about.
by Jacob Tucker, staff writer
I just realized how much
“umph” is put into the prepping of Valentine’s Day, and for what? It’s just
one day that is highly overrated and is celebrated for all of the wrong
reasons. The amount of money spent on this day is ridiculous!
Big business
making puppets of mainstream media
by Jacob Tucker, staff
A lot of people
are more interested in the Disney-fied version of the news, as
delivered by their local nightly news program, but I am
definitely not such a person. I must confess to a storied
distrust for just about anything that is related to the news
because of the news media’s selective coverage. I would go so
far as to say that the mainstream media is even censored,
although the culprit is big business, not government
restriction.
Spring break -
Time for fun & sun
by Codi Bullard, staff writer
Picture you and
your best buds lying on the beach, going to nightclubs, meeting
new people, and letting yourself go wild and crazy.
You are stress free with no thoughts of work, school, or
nagging parents and instructors for one whole week. What could
be better? Well, get ready for this paradise, because spring
break is on its way!
Betting on
Addiction
Knowing when to
stop before starting to gamble
by Grayson Thomas
Las Vegas, or Sin City, is one of the most popular attractions in the
United States.
It seems that
everyone has an itch to go and try their hand at a game and risk
losing the investment just made, or more, depending on the
gambling addiction of the player.
But is gambling
really as addictive as a drug? Is it the same kind of
addiction?
