Automotive Program Nationally Recognized

The South Plains College
has given automotive students an added incentive for completing their
degree.
The
SPC automotive training program recently received certification by the
National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) and The
National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence.
“This
is great news for automotive-minded young people and their parents,” said
Donald Seyfer, NATEF chair.
According to Seyfer, this certification will give students the added
stabilization of finding a job in their field after diploma completion.
SPC Jazz Band Sets Concert
for March 7

Plains
College’s
Jazz Band and faculty members will be combining their musical talents to
perform their first concert of the spring semester at 7:30 p.m., March 7, at
the SPC Theatre for the Performing Arts.
Under
the direction of Dr. Bruce Keeling and Al Gardner, this group will be
playing pieces such as “I Remember You”, by Mark Taylor, featuring soloists
Ashley McNeely on tenor sax and Adrian Moreno on alto sax. “Splanky”, by
Neil Hefti, will feature soloist Ruth Cunningham on trombone. “Floatation”,
by Les Hooper, will feature soloists Greg John on trumpet and Charles Brown
on guitar.

Texan Cheerleaders Take Up
Recycling Project

College
cheerleaders have decided to lend a hand to the recycling effort by signing
a partnership with the National Junior College Athletic Association and
DonationsINK.com.
The
recycling project began on Feb. 13, after it was chosen by the Texan
Cheerleaders as their on-going service project.
DonationsINK.com is an organization based in Colorado that combines
environmentally- friendly recycling with charitable giving.
