The South Plains
College Lady Texans remained on top of the WJCAC standings
with a 52-38 victory over Howard College recently.
SPC is currently 28-1
for the season and 12-1 in conference play.
SPC never trailed in
the game and had a 10-point lead, 17-7, less than ten

The record-setting winning streak for
the Lady Texans was stopped at 27 games recently when they
were defeated by Odessa College, 69-57.
SPC committed 34 turnovers, eight of
which came in the first five minutes of the game.
The loss has not phased the Lady
Texans, who continue to have a positive attitude about the
season.
“We have a pretty strong team,”
Roberson, a freshman wing, said. “And everybody gets along,
on and off the court. We act like one big happy family. I
don’t think the loss got us down or anything. It helped and
showed us what we need to improve on.”
Seals had 19 points and nine rebounds,
leading SPC in scoring. Roberson chipped in 16 points, while
Rumph had eight in the loss.
“Personally, I could not be more proud
to be part of the Lady Texans program,” freshman guard
Krystal Davis added. “Being with players who have the heart
and passion for the game is a wonderful feeling. Although we
lost, snapping our 27-game winning streak, we are still
confident and ready to play and to get back on the winning
track.”
Also, Blackmon scored six points
against Odessa, while Djouara added five, and Frazier had
three.
Before the loss at Odessa, the Lady
Texans competed at Clarendon, defeating posting an 86-51
victory.
SPC never lost the lead against
Clarendon during the game.
Djouara led the Lady Texans with 22
points, and Roberson had 17, while Seals tossed in 15
points, pulled down16 rebounds and blocked five shots.
“I think the season is going pretty
good,” Blackmon said. “We play as a team, and practice hard
every day, just trying to get to regionals and then
nationals. It’s No. 1 on our list, so we take it all one day
at a time.”
Blackmon scored 15, while Frazier
chipped in eight points and six assists. Rumph finished with
seven, and freshman Courtney Miller threw in two points.
The Lady Texans concluded regular-season play on March 1 at
New Mexico Junior College. Results were not available at
